What Growers Can Do

As a grower, there are many ways you can implement safer, better produce growing practices in your business. One important way you can participate in the focus on healthier, safer farming is to become TruEarth Certified.

The TruEarth certification process is supported by the IPM (Integrated Pest Management) Institute of North America. The IPM is focused on the active use of sustainable farming practices.

Growers wishing to become TruEarth certified complete an in-depth self-assessment and submit an application to the IPM along with pesticide application records. Once certified, the self-assessment process is completed annually to ensure compliance with the TruEarth standards.

The standards incorporate growing techniques, highly-controlled pest control methods that take into consideration many environmental factors including a closer focus on scouting and weather monitoring, and applying approved pest control only when pests exceed science-based thresholds.

TruEarth Certification tells consumers and retailers that you are good stewards of your land, water and growing environment. It says that your products provide a healthy selection for families and the retailers who feature your produce. TruEarth Certification shows your commitment to bringing the healthiest and tastiest fruit to the markets you serve.
